Michelle
Silvera BVMS MRCVS
Partner & Veterinary Surgeon
With
a great love of the outdoors and also growing up on a local animal farm,
becoming a vet was a natural progression for Michelle. She qualified from
Glasgow University in 2002, and joined our team here in 2003. With a six-month
break from her routine career at Cameron and Greig, Michelle travelled to
Bermuda and applied her knowledge to the care of small animals over there,
along with some equine work too. Michelle became a practice partner in September
2011. She has
three dogs, Mitch a 14-year-old Jack Russell and Border Terriers Roxy and
Brillo.
Hobbies include, the winter
sport of curling, pilates,
scuba diving and she
enjoys taking
holidays abroad.
George
Greig BVM&S MRCVS Partner & Veterinary
Surgeon
The Greig side of our partnership, qualified from Edinburgh University in
1977. Since joining the practice in 1981, George has seen many changes over
the past thirty years in the advancement of veterinary care. He has used
this to provide a high level of animal care, and his future goals are to
continue improving the practice in the years ahead, so as to maintain this
service to the community. Being a vet brings something new every day and
George very much enjoys the variety of his career, whether in the fields
of the countryside or here in the practice.
Living
locally, he has two cats, a horse and George's seven Labradors compete with
him in field trials. Champions are Pup, Oak and Abbie; Adder and Jet have
cups to their names, and Hudson is a Field Trial Winner! In fact George
and his dogs have
represented Scotland
many times in Gundog Internationals.
When a little quiet
'time out' is required,
he enjoys a sedate
spot of fishing.
Gill
Morton RVN Veterinary Nurse
Life
is always busy when you are raising a family, but the time arrived when
Gill could return to the workplace, and she decided to retrain and pursue
a career in veterinary nursing. After her studies and practical training,
she successfully qualified from Telford College in Edinburgh in 2002, but
had actually been part of our team at Milnathort since 1998. Today though,
you will see her based at our Cowdenbeath practice, where her favourite
part of the job is welcoming the little ones to the surgery when they are
puppies or kittens, and observing their progress as they grow into adulthood.
She
also has a particular interest in dental care, and can help ensure that
your pet's teeth are sparkly clean, and their general oral care is well
maintained.
At the age of eleven, Gill got her first pet dog Tara and since then, she
has become a firm dog lover. However, she does have a cat called Charlie
who keeps her family of four dogs in order - Poppy
and Daisy the Border Terriers, plus Daschunds
Lincoln and Frankie.
Gill has a keen interest in photography and you can
actually admire her work
very close by, as she
did most of the camera
work for our website.
We think you will agree, what
a very good job she did too!
Brenda
takes great pride in the many
tasks that her position within our team requires, and ensures that the consultation
rooms and surgery are kept clean, tidy and well-presented for our clients
and pets on their arrival. After a busy shift at the practice,
she enjoys many social and leisure activities including walking her
dog Suki a border terrier,
meeting with friends, dancing, gardening and keep fit.
Other pets are Sheba the
cat, and a Netherland
dwarf rabbit, Chunky.
Seen here with pet boxer Maisie, Iain lives locally, and has two children. A son who is a chemical engineer, and his daughter, a scientist within the commercial bioscience field. For leisure and entertainment he's a bit of a sporting man, as he enjoys golf and rugby.
Iain Cameron BVMS MRCVS Veterinary Surgeon
Iain qualified from Glasgow University in 1975, and is the 'Cameron' side to this veterinary partnership. He joined the surgery in 1976, and greatly enjoys the variety of work with the different species of animals that each day brings. Iain has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience over the years, and looks ahead to the continuing improvement of the practices' technology and facilities.
Clare
Montgomery BVMS MRCVS Veterinary Surgeon
With
a veterinary career set in her mind for many years, Clare qualified In June
2012, from University of Glasgow, and gained further animal care experience
on the other side of the world, working for a small animal practice in Tauranga,
Bay of Plenty in New Zealand. Joining us in May 2014, she really enjoys
the variety of work within a mixed practice, particularly the practical
and surgical aspects. Future plans are to gain further qualifications in
the veterinary field, and one day to have her own practice.
At
her parents home in Northern Ireland, animals are well and truly part
of Clare's life too, as five dogs, the horses, Paddy and Lilly who is
a retired amateur
show jumper, plus the two cats Willow
and George, all look forward to her
visits
back home.
For relaxation, Clare
enjoys keeping fit with
the outdoor sporting
life of hockey, and
has joined the Perth
Triathlon Club.
In addition she likes
horse riding, walking,
surfing and a good
night out!
Nichelle Clunie Receptionist
There
is never a dull moment for a veterinary receptionist. Telephones ringing,
clients to help, dogs barking, consultation rooms to prepare, vets to assist
and Nichelle, took on this busy position with us in summer 2009. She had
always wanted to work with animals, so it is not surprising that her favourite
part of the job is the actual 'hands on' care that is sometimes required,
and she is now considering taking nursing exams.
She has three dogs at home, border
collies Gypsy and Echo, plus a
deerhound called Yulla.
Hobbies
are walking,
swimming and 200 tours.
Michelle joined our team here in September 2013, and greatly enjoys the interaction with our clients and working on challenging or new cases. Her qualifying year took her abroad to Morocco, where she worked for Help the Street Animals of Morocco on their cat neutering scheme.
Michelle
Cooper BVMS MRCVS Veterinary Surgeon
Qualifying
from Glasgow University in 2010, Michelle has a keen interest in many
aspects of farm animal practice particularly health planning, preventative
care and surgery. Further qualifications planned for the future are
focused on a Certificate in Farm Animal Medicine/Management.
Claire
Duff NVQ3 Veterinary Nurse
Claire's love for animals and their well-being, led her to train for
a nursing career within the veterinary world. Attending a full time
course at Edinburgh's Telford College, she joined our nursing team here
in June 2013. Her favourite part of the job is meeting new clients and
their pets, but really enjoys all aspects of her position as a Veterinary
Nurse. It makes her very happy to see our poorly patients regain full
health, to enjoy life once again. In the past she has gained experience
at the PDSA in Edinburgh, and for the future, would like to become skilled
at dog grooming. When relaxation time arrives, Claire enjoys driving,
a good film at
the cinema, shopping and the delicate
crafts of card and jewellery making.
You may even see her walking and
training her own Cocker Spaniel
puppy called Indi.
Other pets are the two
weather loaches Thor &
Zeus, the rescue guinea
pig Sheldon and a
goldfish called Raj.
